Abstract

This paper aimed to analyze the conceptualization of environmental practices and climate actions operationalized to mitigate or adapt to the impacts of climate change, as well as to discuss these environmental and climate approaches in a higher education environment. The methodological approach was qualitative with an explanatory orientation through a systematic review of the literature; the screened analysis by relevance criterion was used. The findings indicate that, while both climate actions and environmental practices share the overarching objective of mitigating human-induced environmental impacts, these constructs are complementarians. Consequently, higher education should shift their focus from a predominantly techno-economic environmental perspective to a more comprehensive climate-centric perspective with a socioenvironmental emphasis.
